'Gasman' beats all comers in B52's golf challenge
Team Golf Day & BBQ Sunday 10th August 2008
The Bracknell B52s IHC had their summer golf day at Windlemere Golf Course followed
with a team BBQ at Gibbos home (team captain). 10 players made the golf day...
Gibbo,Tony Nix, Downsey, Gasman, Foaley, Mitch, Colgate, Munce, Arron, Pete & Harvey Stead (caddy)
The day started off with a quick bucket of balls in the range before T off time ( 10.30am). The 1st 3 off the T was
Downsey, Foal and Mitch. 2nd off was Tony, Russ, and Gibbo. Leaving Neil, Paul, Pete and Arron as the final 4 ball .
Playing just a 9 nine hole course was still a 3 hour game. With players varying in their golf skills, everyone was still keen to try
and win 1 of the 4 prizes up for grabs. A hot sunny morning made for an ideal golf day, with some good golf being played. I don’t
think some of the players made it to the 4th hole before a few beers were spotted being consumed. The coach treating himself to a
new driver to help improve his game, but it was Mark 'Gibbo' Gibson who put it to good use with winning the longest drive on the 8th hole,
nearest the pin was won by Adrian 'Foaley' Wybrott on the 7th hole. Lowest score without handicap was Foaley on 42, with Pete Litwin
bringing up the rear on 86. But on the day with all handicaps considered it was Russ 'Gasman' Harman who got the best round winning with a
score of 53.
There were a few more beers at the clubhouse where the prizes were presented, then straight back to Gibbos house for the team BBQ.
As soon as we approached the house the smell of food was in the air. The BBQ already full with burgers chicken ribs and sausages, Gibbos estate laid out with food and drinks everywhere you looked. Many of the players who were unable to make the mornings golf headed straight for the BBQ where Linda was there to welcome everyone.
It was great to have a big team gathering with wives, girlfriends and lots of children all enjoying the day, with some of the players and lots the little ones quick to head for the pool for a dip. A good time was had by all !!!
A big thankyou to Mark and Linda Gibson for all their hard work with organizing and laying on a lovely day for the team.
